My Top Favorite Nail Polishes!

I started getting into nail polish in late 2010, after a back injury left me on bed rest for a whole week and I had nothing better to do then read nail polish blogs & paint my nails. I now own 183 polishes and I wanted to share my top favorites out of my collection.

1. Butter London: Two Fingered Salute

2. Zoya Aurora

3. I Love Nail Polish: Birefringence (H)

6. Layla Hologram: Mercury Twilight

7. SindiePop: Golden Raspberries

Layla Emerald Divine- Holographic Polish!

These actually turned out just how I wanted them too! I love Layla Hologram (Holographic) polish. They dry so fast and are stunning indoors or in the sunlight. I used Winstonia Store stamping plate W111 for the designs. And Konad Special Black polish. I used Seche Vite fast dry topcoat when I was finished stamping.

The Konad special polish is great for stamping, but I hate how it stains the skin around your fingers... I might try a little vaseline around my cuticles next time I stamp, because it's a pain cleaning up the leftover black after I'm done stamping.

And here are two mobile photos I took of the Layla Emerald Divine earlier this week:

Essence & OPI Gradient

Feeling a bit under the weather today. Also... the keyboard in my laptop decided to go... so I am left without N, M, H, J, Y, U, 6 & 7... ordered a new keyboard. (They are not difficult to install. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545. It's about 3 years old now. I've done laptop repairs before). For the meantime, I have to either use my Kindle Fire HD 8.9", or the on-screen keyboard in Windows 7 (under accessibility) to fill in the missing letters when I use my laptop... not fun...

I decided to do a gradient with Essence Hello Marshmallow & OPI You're such a Budapest. I used Konad animal print stamp M57. My stamping wasn't the best, because I was feeling dizzy... I smeared them a little bit. The colors are pretty though!

Right before I stamped my nails. (And my awesome Lush Lemony Flutter cuticle butter!)

This is the acetone nail polish remover‬ I use. It's 99 cents from Shop-rite & works better/faster than any I've used before. I only use it once a week to remove my polish. I usually only change my polish every Friday. (Unless it chips really bad during the week).

Look what I found on drugstore.com! Herbal Essences brought back two of their old favorites. I used to use this rose shampoo and conditioner when I was a teenager. It still smells the same! I love it!

I also re-swatched Layla Hologram Ultra Violet. I love Layla Holo's!

Layla Coffee Love & Owl Nails!

I recently got another Layla Hologram polish I've been wanting. Coffee Love. (I still want Emerald Divine!) I don't usually buy brown nail polish but this one is too pretty. I own 7 of the Layla Hologram polishes. They are my favorite holographic polish brand. They dry incredibly fast. So even though you usually need 2-3 coats you will be amazed how fast each coat dries.

No Top Coat here. Just 3 coats of Layla Coffee Love

I did some owl themed nails with my Winstonia Store stamping plates. I used 3 different stamps from plates: W115, W110, W119. I used Konad Special polish in white to stamp. And I covered everything with Seche Vite topcoat.

I also got a mini gold Konad Special polish... but it's super sheer. Blah... what is a good gold polish to stamp with? Does anyone know?

Ninja Polish!

I've ordered quite a few times from the Ninja Polish store, but I've never tried their own brand. My last order I got two Ninja Polishes & a Layla polish.

I ordered Ninja Polish Caribbean Reef & Strawberries 'n Roses. And Layla The Butterfly Effect.

Flash: Comparison of Ninja Polish Caribbean Reef & Enkelini It's Raining Happy. Each 3 Coats. The Enkelini is darker. And the Ninja Polish has some holo sparkles.

Flash: Ninja Polish Strawberries 'n Roses. Pretty holo glitter polish. 3 coats & 1 coat Seche Vite top coat.

I was a bit disappointed with Layla The Butterfly Effect. I thought it would be more purple-ly in person. The formula is very thin so I think it's best for layering over polish. It's a very dark purple in person. It has pretty flakies in it that shift from gold, red, orange & green. I think my favorite though was layering it over Layla Hologram Ultra Violet.

I'm going to do an updated blog post of all the polish I have in my collection, whenever I receive my 3 free Zoya's. :-)

P.S. I won these really pretty Wet 'n Wild eye shadows from Confessions of a Sarcastic Mom Blog. She has a lot of contests going on this month!

*All polish was purchased by myself.

Polish Addiction...

My addiction with nail polish continues... lol. I've gotten some lovely new colors again.

New China Glaze Halloween 2012 colors. These were my favorites. The gray 'Immortal' has different colors of shimmer in it. And 'Make a Spectacle' is my new favorite glitter topcoat. This blog post on The PolishAholic is what made me want these two colors so much. In the bottle, 'Make a Spectacle' looks very similar to China Glaze 'Luxe & Lush', but 'Luxe & Lush' shows up gold on your nails. 'Make a Spectacle' is iridescent and has larger circles of glitter, plus shimmer. I was lucky to get each of the new colors for $3 on ebay.

And my Layla polish obsession! I'm so glad Ninja Polish carries this brand. These are my first two non holographic Layla polishes.

I ordered Layla Softouch Effects in: Aqua Zen. I love this color and the finish is so unique from any of my other nail polishes. It's not matte, it's more a ceramic or rubber/vinyl finish. (I wore this color for 1 full week with no base or top coat and had NO CHIPS at all. Just tip wear- AMAZING polish!)

And Layla Mirror Effect in: Metal Chrome. This one is pretty neat, it's not too streaky, it does show every imperfection on your nail though, you're supposed to soft buff your nails before applying this. But what I did was do 1 coat, then a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat and then 3 more coats of the Metal Chrome and it smoothed it out. It's super shiny in person like I have foil on my nails. :-)

Also I know I've talked about Butter London before. How it takes forever to dry and stains my nails and how I don't think it's worth the price. (Not like Layla!) Well... then I saw this picture of the Butter London Nordstrom Exclusive color 'Two Fingered Salute' and I had to have it...

Not my picture. This is from The PolishAholic blog.

Actually, they were out of stock and I couldn't find the color on ebay so I thought I would never own it. But Nordstrom's finally restocked so I ordered it! It's so pretty... it reminds me of marble or stone. A subtle goldish greenish color. It's gorgeous! It's not shipping until October 20th though. :-(

P.S. Check out KJPugs blog! She received her prizes from the Krazy Candle giveaway I hosted and she blogged all about it. :-) Congrats again! *Krazy Candle is no longer open*

Enkelini Nail Polishes!

From reading nail blogs, I know there's all sorts of indie brand nail polish out there. So one Saturday I started looking up nail polish on Etsy and stumbled upon Enkelini Nails Shop. What caught my eye were her hologram polishes. They are gorgeous and I really wanted some! I have a bit of a nail polish obsession. ;-)

I like how her shop offers mini bottles & full size. You can sample more colors with the mini bottles and if you like something enough, you can purchase a full size. The holo's I did 3 coats with. The polish is nice and thick and coats just right. Removing them was also breeze- with no staining. I'm definitely eye-ing some other colors I want to buy!

My Loot! She sent me the Flakie Friend as a free sample. The mini bottles are all $5. But worth it. :-) I ordered 3 different colors. Violet Soul, Let's Dance, Pink Tie Ball.

Ignore my not so stellar paint job on the last one- the sparkles are so much more elegant in person. The flash washes them out. Pink Tie Ball is layered over China Glaze- Dress Me Up.

*The links direct you to the Enkelini Etsy Shop. I was not compensated for writing this, I just love her nail polish! ;-) I purchased the 3 polishes on my own & the clear one was a free sample*

I also purchased 2 more Layla Hologram polishes on ebay... *drool* These two colors are by far my favorite! I love how fast the Layla polishes dry too. Each are 3 coats. You can find them on Ebay, Zappos.com or Ulta Beauty.

Ultra Violet
Mercury Twilight- ignore the gash on my index finger :(

Hologram Nails and KP3D movie!

I've been coveting Layla Hologram polish for awhile. I finally ordered some on Ebay. And then I liked it so much I went and order another bottle. You can find them at Ebay, Ulta Beauty or Zappos.com. They range from $14-16, but they are so worth it.

The formula dries super quick. I tried a topcoat, but it dulls the hologram effect. It does chip on your fingertips a bit. I noticed if I do 1 layer of hologram, then a clear coat, then 1-2 more coats of hologram on top it lasts much much longer. It looks frosty going on, but once it dries then the hologram effect shows! You can still see the hologram effect in low light and they sparkle in sunlight! Love them!

Color: Mermaid Spell
Color: Flash Black

My cousins & I also saw the Katy Perry: Part of Me movie in 3D last Friday. I loved it! I like that it's more of a documentary then just a concert movie. It shows a lot of behind the scenes stuff. Plus I like that she writes her own music, plays guitar and doesn't lip sync at her live shows. If anything I thought she sounded even better at her live shows. Her Grandma cracked us up in the movie, she reminded us of our Nana. It's definitely worth going to see!

I really want to see it again, so I think I might be dragging hubby along this time! That's okay though, we're definitely seeing The Dark Knight Rises this month too. ;-)

You can view a lot of clips from the movie here.
