My Nail & Hand Care Favorites!

My good blogging buddy Kirby and I were recently talking about our doing posts on our favorite handcare products, so today I wanted to share some of my nail and hand care favorites, (and routine) with all of you today. These are all products I regularly use, (obviously not all at once!), and have purchased myself.

This will be a picture heavy post, click below to read more.

Hand & Nail Care

I wanted to share some of the products I use for hand & nail care. I took the photos with my Galaxy S3 and while they may not be perfect quality, they do the job. All items were purchased by myself.

I had been using Lush Lemony Flutter but I used it all up and I didn't buy more because I don't really like the scent. The Pig & The Peacock is an Etsy store that sells all natural handmade soaps and lotions. I love their solid hand lotions. They have already made scents in their shop. Lemongrass & Eucalyptus is a custom order. They have a soap that scent that I loved, so I asked if they could use the same scent for their solid lotion. (If you do a custom scent you have to buy the whole batch of 4 for $16.) I put this on every night before bed.

You rub the solid bar between your hands a few times and then rub your hands together. This is a deeply moisturizing lotion. With shea butter, avocado oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil. It feels a little oily at first but within a few minutes absorbs. Love love love this lotion.

I keep the Badger Balm cuticle care in my purse usually, to rub into my cuticles during the day at different times. It has different oils in it, including mandarin oil. The rosemary and mandarin oil are most prominent in the scent.

I mainly use CND Solar Oil right before I take nail photos. I rub it into my cuticles really well so it's not too shiny. I actually got this brand new and half price on eBay for $5! I really love it and would definitely get another when I run out.

L'Occitane Verbena Hand Lotion is pretty much my everyday hand lotion. I do a splurge once a year at L'Occitane and this is one of the items I always buy. I can get a good years worth out of this container. I love the scent of this lotion. It has a citrus lemon lime scent with a hint of ginger. It's a nice light everyday lotion.

My Mom gave me my original Revlon nail file years ago in my early teens and I didn't need to buy a new one until about 5 years ago. They pretty much last forever. I've tried all sorts of nail files and I always come back to this one. Plus I love the sharp tip for cleaning out underneath your nails. It looks like they've changed the handle and the name since I last bought one, but they are still selling them. Revlon 34510 File.

The Sally Hansen nail clippers, my husband just gave me this past December. They have a neat plastic guard on them that prevents your nail clippings from flying all over the place, lol! Plus they are super sharp. They are called the Sally Hansen Clip n' Catch.

And last but not least I recently got OPI Nail Envy: Dry & Brittle formula. I don't really use base coats so my nails have staining and the tips have started to peel a little bit, so I started using OPI Nail Envy to prevent those things and help the overall health of my nails. I've only been using it 2 weeks now but the peeling is already much better.

What nail & hand care items do you use?

Easter, an Anniversary & other ramblings.

It's been 9 years since F.B. & I defined our long distance relationship, back on April 1st, 2004! (See our Relationship Timeline). The picture above is the card he got me. :-)

We had a quiet Easter dinner here at home. I made homemade pound cake, (using this recipe). It turned out gorgeous!

Our Easter Dinner. Roast Beef, Onions & Mushrooms, Roasted Seasoned Potatoes, Creamed Corn & Martinelli's Sparkling Apple Cider. We still have leftovers.

I also made lemon butter cream icing to go with our pound cake.

Peeps & the Little Chick are from my co-worker.

Also, I'm now obsessed with these iced & frozen cappuccinos from Wawa. They have a specialty drink bar now and you can customize your coffee drink. Soooo good.

I took advantage of the 20% off coupon L'Occitane sent me in the mail.  I got Almond soap, Verbena soap & Rose soap. Love them.

I've been having green smoothies in the morning for breakfast now. I do 1 whole banana, 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt, Half cup of almond milk, Big handful of fresh spinach, tablespoon of PB2 powder, & some protein powder. Might do some strawberry or blueberry, fruit smoothies this week too.

New favorite wine (Besides Sutter Home Sweet Red). I never had Pink Moscato before! It's really fruity and tangy. LOVE!

Typical commuting to work week. I ride these trains 2 times a day, 5 times a week. 45min to 1 hour commute...

My L'Occitane Obsession...

My L'Occitane obsession started on my honeymoon in the Philippines in 2009. We stayed at the Manila Hotel and they had the verbena L'Occitane toiletries.... I was hooked. (Philippine residents, there's a L'Occitane in Greenbelt 5).

I don't get to shop from L'Occitane too often. Once a year, or twice a year at the most. Infact the last time I had purchased anything was back in April of 2011, the year my husband arrived in the USA and we had visited the King of Prussia Mall. I stocked up on Verbena lotion then! L'Occitane is not cheap, so it's something I get to splurge on once in awhile. My favorite scents are Verbena, Almond, Rose for Reines.

During our little weekend getaway in January, I got to check out the L'Occitane shop on Walnut Street in Philadelphia... and rekindle my obsession with L'Occitane!

Here are some L'Occitane products I've been using lately:

Verbena Hand Lotion. Almost done this bottle, the new bottle is square & 10oz now instead of 8oz.

Sample size of the Almond Oil Bodywash. I LOVE the almond scent.

Valentine's Day gift from my husband. Almond Lotion.

Rose solid perfume. It smells like fresh cut roses. (Not on their website).

The free Shea Butter gift set I got with my order.

Goodies I got during our weekend getaway in January:

    Valentines Day 2013!

Since Valentines Day fell on a week day and after a lonngggg work day, we stayed in and had Chinese takeout. My husband got me roses and my new favorite L'Occitane almond lotion. And I got him a few Playstation 2 games. :-)

Here are some photos (mainly Instagram) from our Valentines 2013.

My coworker of 11 years gave out pink/red carnations to all the ladies at work.
Hearts on the card I got my husband.
    Roses & L'Occitane!

    My new favorite scent.
We bought this a few days before Valentines haha. Couldn't wait!

Right before Valentines, I won a giveaway from the Bama+Ry Shop on Facebook! Jasmine makes gorgeous custom stamped copper & nickel jewelry. I love the jewelry she makes. Like these cute bird earrings and this beautiful inspire pendant. I also love this home is where the heart is necklace.

I was so lucky to win one of her pieces! I love the heart & key design, because when my husband & I were dating & so far apart from each other, we had heart & key key chains. (Kind of like these). The necklace arrived just in time for Valentine's Day. And it came in such cute packaging too! Thank you Jasmine! I love it! :-)

    Weekend Getaway!

F.B. & I decided to have a little "staycation" getaway. Saturday into Sunday we checked into the Hyatt at the Bellevue in Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square section. The hotel was just two blocks down from the Academy of Music. I found a nice rate on our room on Agoda.com

Check in was at 3pm on Saturday. We took the train down to Suburban Station. We got downtown around 2pm, so we decided to walk around a little bit. We checked out The Shops at Liberty Place. It's a small mall right near City Hall.

There was a Starbucks downstairs inside the hotel! They also had a Tiffany & Co, Williams & Sonoma and some other shops downstairs.

    Our room!
We headed to dinner after checking in. We ate at Ruby Tuesday at Liberty Place. Then walked around a little after dinner. And I got some Starbucks when we got back to the hotel, hehe.

Sirloin steak, broccoli & mashed cauliflower
Top shelf long island iced tea
    Mojito
F.B. with our chocolate lava cake for dessert.

Art school across the street from the hotel. We could see ballerina's practicing in the studio from the sidewalk. :)
Academy of Music was 2 blocks from the hotel.
Light outside the Academy of Music.
Starbucks & Chocolate back at the hotel!

    Courtyard out our hotel window

Check out was at 12pm. I forgot to take pictures of us when we came back to the hotel after dinner, I was tired. lol. So that's why my hair is wet here.

We checked out shops on Chestnut Street & Walnut Street after checking out. Walnut Street has a bunch of high end shops. The one I really wanted to stop at was L'Occitane!

My loot from L'Occitane! Almond soap, Verbena soap, Almond oil body wash, Verbena hand lotion, Almond lotion, Rose solid perfume.

We decided to head to 30th Street Station to take the train back home. It was sunny, but very cold and windy out! We walked from Broad St all the way to 30th Street Station.

    Comcast Center
Church on 17th Street, I liked the red door.

    Bridge near Schuylkill Ave.
Oh hi work... see you Tuesday...

I got a cute Philadelphia tote bag for work and a metal city souvenir from the book shop inside 30th Street Station. Yeah... playing tourist in my own city again, lol. Ever since my office moved downtown back in December 2010 and I've been riding the trains. I've definitely been checking out more of downtown Philadelphia than ever before.

F.B. tired on the train home.
Me waiting in the car, while F.B. get Wendy's for dinner!
We had a really nice weekend. But boy with all that walking, we are exhausted!

P.S. This was the note F.B. left on my coffee cup and I found when I got to work Thursday morning. (I make my coffee at home in the morning and my travel tumbler goes into my work bag until I get to work).
