My Nail & Hand Care Favorites!

My good blogging buddy Kirby and I were recently talking about our doing posts on our favorite handcare products, so today I wanted to share some of my nail and hand care favorites, (and routine) with all of you today. These are all products I regularly use, (obviously not all at once!), and have purchased myself.

This will be a picture heavy post, click below to read more.

Indigo Bananas: Perfect Night (for mystery & horror)

I saw Indigo Bananas, Perfect Night (for mystery & horror) swatched by Polish Hound, and The Mercurial Magpie, and fell in love with it. Well... let's be honest, I pretty much fall in love with any purple polish!

Perfect Night (for mystery & horror) is a rich purple jelly polish with blue green color shifting flakies. I did 3 coats (formula was smooth and flawless), and one coat of KB Shimmer Clearly On Top topcoat.

And here it is with one coat of NYC Matte Me Crazy Topcoat:

I also picked up two mini cuticle balms, in Coffee, and Eucalyptus. I have a bad addiction with these balms. I own about 8 different scents now. (I also love that they double as a lip balm!) I love how they moisturize, and I like that when it absorbs it dries with a powdery touch. (The coffee scent reminds me more of a mocha coffee. It's very similar to the cocoa scent that was discontinued, that I loved!)

Oooh, When I received these cuticle balms, Andrea had them professionally sealed with plastic now! I love watching indie polish shops grow and evolve!  :)

My Favorite Indie Shops!

I thought I would share with you all, some of my favorite indie shops to buy nail polish from. These are shops I have own two or more nail polishes from, who I would purchase from again, and also have fabulous customer service.

Indie polishes are more unique, because of the fact they are made in such small batches. There's often limited editions. There's better quality control, and better quality over ingredients used in products, compared to a larger company. Plus you are supporting an independent small businesses when you purchase an indie polish!

1. ILNP Boutique

Really unique duo chromes, and vibrant holographics. Birefringence is my #1 favorite nail polish hands down from this shop. I always get plenty of compliments when I wear it. Also Barbra is a sweetheart and interacts often with her fans. Their customer service is awesome too, I once checked out with the wrong polish and they corrected it right away for me.

2. Painted Polish

Lexi's Drunk on Holo is another one of my all time favorite polishes. I've used it in countless manicures. Lot's of unique crelly and jelly polishes, and blinged out glitter polish. Lexi's packaging is always adorable too, little custom bags for the polish with her logo, she sometimes throws in nail decals or nail studs. She's also really interactive with her fans on Facebook and Instagram.

3. Indigo Bananas

Andrea comes up with the most unique finishes. Her duo chromes always have a soft finish to them. Her flakie jellies are out of this world (and I need to buy them!) Gorgeous holographics, and her cuticle balm is the bomb. I'm actually really addicted to her cuticle balms, and I like that she carries it in full size and mini's (as well as her polishes). She often tucks some interesting foreign Japanese, Chinese candies into your packages which is a fun touch!

4. Ellagee Polish

Whoo! Any lady that thinks of putting dolphin glitter, or penguin glitter into polish is freaking amazing! And Laura definitely is. She has really unique glitter jelly polishes, and holographics, and she recently stocked her shop with mini nail polish bottles keychains that you can fill with different custom charms! (Need!) My two favorite polishes from her are Life is de Bubbles and Dolphins of the Caribbean!

5. KB Shimmer

I recently got addicted to KB Shimmer last year. The fact that she also sells homemade soaps, scrubs, lotions, etc doesn't help. I am addicted to homemade soaps. One of my favorites is her relaxation soap, which has a nice musky scent like a man's really nice cologne, but light enough that it can be unisex. I also love the sugar scrub in that scent, and Lilac! The lilac sugar scrub is amazing! And don't get me started on the cuticle oil pens! Last time I made sure to buy two of the lemongrass cuticle pens. Her customer service is also fantastic, I was accidentally sent the wrong item once, and they responded the same day and mailed the correct item out. Her polishes are gorgeous too, love the crellies, and holo's!

6. Ice Polish

Erin has fantastic holographic polishes, with a great formula too. I just recently tried her polish, and I love it! Especially Jafar (berry holo), and Maleficent which is a gorgeous duo chrome.

7. Nire's Desire

Another Erin- and if you didn't notice her store's name is 'Erin' flipped backwards. ;-) Nire's Desire has some really gorgeous cream shimmers, and duo chromes, and holographics. I own Anam Cara and Jezebel. They are one coaters and have a really unique shimmer to them.

So those are some of my favorite indies! What are some of your favorites? I'd love to hear in the comments!

Enchanted Polish: Feb 2014.

I was so excited I was able to grab an Enchanted Polish during the February pre-order! I have to admit though, I was a bit nervous because it was a mystery color and EP is not cheap. Luckily February 2014 turned out to be a very pretty mauve berry colored holographic polish.

This is my very 1st Enchanted Polish so I don't know if this is the norm for them, but I found the formula very thick. So thick that when I would try to swipe it on my nail it would drag and clump before it reached my nail tip. I ended up getting so frustrated I added thinner to my bottle so it would apply better. It's a stunning color but if all EP formulas are like that, I don't think I want to pay $15 a bottle for them...

I decided to put one coat of Indigo Bananas 2% Butterscotch Ripple over my Enchanted Polish... it was so much prettier in person! Really awesome combo!

More Indigo Bananas!

I recently ordered some more Indigo Bananas!

This is Great Scott. I think it may have jumped to my favorite Indigo Bananas yet. It's a gorgeous blue glass fleck with gold.... and it also glows in the dark! This is three coats, plus Seche Vite Topcoat.

I also picked up Pure Imagination. It has blue, green, orange, gold, purple shifting micro glitters. I layered two coats over black polish here, plus topcoat.

My Indigo Bananas cuticle balm addiction... lol. I ordered mini's this time of Grapefruit & Macaroon. Strawberry Mint was included as a sample. The full sizes I own are: Lemon, Cocoa & Peppermint. Love, love, love these balms! Some of the scents are also lip safe. :-)

Indigo Bananas: 2% Butterscotch Ripple & My Cuticle Balm Obsession...

✯ PR Samples Mentioned ✯

I have a bad addiction to Indigo Bananas cuticle balms now. (I blame The Mercurial Magpie!) I just love it. I can apply it all day long and when it dries it's not greasy. If I applied a regular cuticle balm or a lotion... my hand would be sliding around on the computer mouse at work, lol. :-p

This time I ordered two of the winter scents Cocoa & Peppermint. Peppermint is also lip safe so it double's as a lip balm. And Cocoa... oh em gee.... it smells like rich chocolatey fudgey hot chocolate. I absolutely love it!

The nails are ready for swatching!

I also bought a mini of 2% Butterscotch Ripple, after I saw this post on In Jeeb We Trust. She layered it over Zoya Odette from the Naturels collection and I fell in love with the combination and needed to hijack it! ;-)

I got these cute nail vinyls from The Mercurial Magpie when she sent me her Ipsy polish. So I decided to use the heart nail vinyl and fill it in with 2% Butterscotch Ripple. I layered 2 coats of 2% Butterscotch Ripple over Zoya Odette (press sample). Topped off with Seche Vite dry fast topcoat. Gosh I love this polish... it's gold... it's glittery, it's got a nice raspberry base to it that really works splendid over Odette. Just stunning...

Indigo Bananas

I've been wanting to order from Indigo Bananas for awhile but there's so many pretty colors to choose from I always have a hard time deciding what to put in my cart. I finally decided on Maui and We Are The Music Makers. (mini size). I also ordered some cuticle balm in lemon scent after reading The Mercurial Magpies review.

I've been using the cuticle balm A LOT. Especially with this cold dry winter weather. The lemon scent is very light. I think I'd like to try peppermint scent next time. It's very moisturizing and dries with powdery feel instead of greasy like most balms.

Maui is a blue and purple duo chrome. It dries with a gritty finish so I used Seche Vite topcoat. I only needed two coats, really nice formula!

Blue is the prominent color in Maui.

I layered two coats of We Are The Music Makers over black polish, plus topcoat. We Are The Music Makers has color shifting glitter, you'll see green, teal, blue, purple, etc.
