Revlon Parfumerie: Surf Spray

My CVS finally had some of the Revlon Parfumerie nail polishes. There are 24 colors in the collection and they are all scented. I decided to get Surf Spray a pretty shimmery blue color with purple in it. When it's dry it smells like a fresh beachy floral scent, which you can smell even through my Seche Vite topcoat. I like strong floral scents, but if you don't this may bother you.

Surf Spray is also incredibly sheer. I find I like it best when I layer two coats over black polish. The color is more vibrant that way. On it's own, you're looking at 3-4 coats to get it somewhat opaque. Even at 4 coats my nail line was visible.

This is Surf Spray by itself: 4 coats, plus topcoat. It's very sheer on it's own:

Two Coats of Surf Spray layered over black, plus topcoat:

I don't own many Revlon polishes, but I really like the Parfumerie collection and there's definitely a few other colors on my wish list: Wintermint, African Tea Rose, Wild Violets & Autumn Spice.

Do you own any of the Revlon Parfumerie polishes?

P.S. This is the best black polish ever! It doesn't stain, opaque in two thin coats. It's a mini I got in one of the L.A. Girl Ombre Kits: (Midnite) a few months ago. I need to see if they sell a full size because I love layering polishes over it.

Sugar Spun Mani's with L.A. Girl Color Pop

✯ PR Sample ✯

I really enjoyed doing sugar spun mani's last time with some of the L.A. Girl Color Pop polishes, I was sent to review. I wanted to do two more with Blast & Plunge. I just love how these look with the bright colors!

Two coats of Blast with Plunge sugar spun over it.

And this is two coats of Plunge with Blast sugar spun over it.

Check out my full review of the L.A. Girl Color Pop polishes.

L.A. Girl: Color Pop

✯ PR Sample ✯

(Picture Heavy Post!)

Last week I received 8 L.A. Girl Color Pop polishes from Vanessa at L.A. Girl Cosmetics. They were packaged really cute too! You can find L.A. Girl polishes for sale at Rite Aid or you can purchase directly from their website. They retail for $5.00.

I was sent: Plunge, Nostalgic, Blast, Amour, Birthday Cake, Burst.

Diamond Topcoat & Marine Base Coat.

(Topcoat & Base Coat were used in all photos!)

Blast is a gorgeous bright purple fucshia color. It's so vibrant my camera tries to pick it up a little pinker than it is in person. Very nice formula not too runny and not too thick, for real life you would be good in 2 coats, but for under my bright lights I did 3 coats.

I also did my first Sugar Spun mani with Blast & Amour. (Thanks to Kat Stays Polished for the Sugar Spun tutorial).

Amour is a beautiful bright red. I also did three coats, no problems with the formula.

Another sugar spun mani with Amour & Plunge.

I did one coat of Blast & Three coats of Burst. Burst is full of pink and holographic glitter. It's super super sparkly in person and I loved it layered over Blast.

Birthday Cake is so awesome! It reminds me of Strawberry Icing with sprinkles. I did three coats for the photo.

Plunge is a bright vibrant blue color. Again, perfect formula. None of these polishes were runny or too sheer. I did 3 coats of Plunge, but in real life you would be fine with 2.

Nostalgic is so pretty in the bottle! It's full of teal glitter. I just wish it was more opaque on the nail. I did three coats over Plunge, but it still doesn't completely cover the nail, it's more of a glitter topper.

I used the Marine Base Coat under all the polishes, and I can say I didn't have any staining, which I was worried about with such concentrated bright colors. The Diamond Topcoat is just as shiny as Seche Vite, but just takes longer to dry.

Which is your favorite from the Color Pop line?

Cherry Culture Sale Haul!

A few weeks ago Cherry Culture had a sale. 20% off your order and free shipping over $40. This was the first time I ordered from Cherry Culture. I picked up an extra birthday gift for my mom and ordered myself 4 of the L.A. Girl Ombre Kits for $5.99 each. You get 5 mini polishes in each kit.

I'll have swatches of these soon. I have a bad slice on my thumb right now. I'm waiting for it to heal, so I can show all 5 colors on my nails when I take photos.

 Girl's Night Out

 Love Affair

 Spring Fling

Midnite

I was also able to get 3 China Glazes colors I've been wanting forever. They were $3.99 each. Strawberry Fields, I'm not Lion, Riveting.

And last but not least, I ordered 2 Jordana Sweet N' Smooth lip balms. I've seen these reviewed on Confessions of  Sarcastic Mom and I've always wanted to try them. I got Watermelon & Cherry. I've tried them both and they taste really good and make your lips super smooth.

This last one wasn't from Cherry Culture. My husband & I went to Wegman's Grocery last night for a splurge shopping trip and I got these two Badger Balm products down the organic aisle. I got Lime Rocket lip balm & I also decided to get the cuticle care to carry in my purse. It smells like oranges & rosemary. (Mandarin oil is one of the ingredients).

L.A. Girl: Brilliant Blue

I picked up L.A. Girl Brilliant Blue a few months ago. It is from their 3D Effects line. (I also have Teal Dimension). I used 2 coats of Brilliant Blue, and I stamped with Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Silver Sweep using Winstonia Store plate W113. I also used 1 coat of Seche Vite.

When Zoya released promos for their 2013 Holiday collection I was wondering if Zoya Dream was a dupe for Brilliant Blue. Refined & Polished swatched both Brilliant Blue & Zoya Dream. They are exact dupes. So if you picked up the L.A. Girl you don't really need Zoya Dream. (Vice Versa).

You can still find L.A. Girl 3D Effects for sale on CherryCulture.com. They are priced at $4, so it's a bargain if you don't want to spend $8 for Zoya Dream.

P.S. I just removed Brilliant Blue- with no staining. I love when dark blues don't stain!

L.A. Girl DIY Nail Kit & Stamping.

After seeing swatches of this kit on Oh Three Oh Four blog, I had to have it. The colors are very me. And the price was right. You get four colors, a nail art brush and some chevron stickers for $3.99. There are actually 4 different kits, with different color combinations. You can find them online here at Cherry Culture, in stores at Rite Aid, or on eBay. I ordered mine from this seller.

Nude, Brown, Gold Glitter & Aqua.

How Did They Apply?
  • Aqua was thicker but a bit streaky. I needed 3 coats. (It also stained my nails during removal.)
  • Brown was a bit runny, but I only needed 2 coats.
  • The Gold Glitter is nice and thick, I only needed 2 coats.
  • Nude was runny and took a bit longer to dry. I needed 3 coats.

These are my favorite colors out of the whole kit! The dark rich chocolate brown and the gorgeous gold glitter with holo sparkles in it. I love both of them! This was also my favorite design and one I've been wanting to do for awhile, I just never had the right colors. Winstonia Store stamping plate W113 & I used Maybelline Metallic's in Bold Gold to stamp with. Topcoat of Seche Vite.

The Aqua was hard to capture on camera, it's so bright in person. It was  overcast and rainy here today. I wish the stamping showed up a bit better, it's seashells from Winstonia Store stamping plate W108. I stamped with Maybelline Metallic's in Bold Gold. And a topcoat of Seche Vite.

I stamped with Winstonia Store stamping plate W108 and used Konad Special White Polish for the feathers. The nude is pretty, but I don't like it so much with the gold. The nude also takes the longest to dry, even with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

All in all, I really loved the colors in this DIY kit and price can't be beat. The quality of the polish is not bad either. I'm very happy with my purchase!

If you haven't already. Check out my Complete Nail Polish Collection!

Peacock Nails

I call these my peacock nails. I used Zoya Aurora, LA Girl 3D Effects: Teal Dimension, Revlon Celestial FX (for the diamonds which I applied with a toothpick), Konad White stamping polish and Winstonia Store plate W108 for the feathers & peacock. I used Seche Vite top coat when I was finished.
