Hand & Nail Care

I wanted to share some of the products I use for hand & nail care. I took the photos with my Galaxy S3 and while they may not be perfect quality, they do the job. All items were purchased by myself.

I had been using Lush Lemony Flutter but I used it all up and I didn't buy more because I don't really like the scent. The Pig & The Peacock is an Etsy store that sells all natural handmade soaps and lotions. I love their solid hand lotions. They have already made scents in their shop. Lemongrass & Eucalyptus is a custom order. They have a soap that scent that I loved, so I asked if they could use the same scent for their solid lotion. (If you do a custom scent you have to buy the whole batch of 4 for $16.) I put this on every night before bed.

You rub the solid bar between your hands a few times and then rub your hands together. This is a deeply moisturizing lotion. With shea butter, avocado oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil. It feels a little oily at first but within a few minutes absorbs. Love love love this lotion.

I keep the Badger Balm cuticle care in my purse usually, to rub into my cuticles during the day at different times. It has different oils in it, including mandarin oil. The rosemary and mandarin oil are most prominent in the scent.

I mainly use CND Solar Oil right before I take nail photos. I rub it into my cuticles really well so it's not too shiny. I actually got this brand new and half price on eBay for $5! I really love it and would definitely get another when I run out.

L'Occitane Verbena Hand Lotion is pretty much my everyday hand lotion. I do a splurge once a year at L'Occitane and this is one of the items I always buy. I can get a good years worth out of this container. I love the scent of this lotion. It has a citrus lemon lime scent with a hint of ginger. It's a nice light everyday lotion.

My Mom gave me my original Revlon nail file years ago in my early teens and I didn't need to buy a new one until about 5 years ago. They pretty much last forever. I've tried all sorts of nail files and I always come back to this one. Plus I love the sharp tip for cleaning out underneath your nails. It looks like they've changed the handle and the name since I last bought one, but they are still selling them. Revlon 34510 File.

The Sally Hansen nail clippers, my husband just gave me this past December. They have a neat plastic guard on them that prevents your nail clippings from flying all over the place, lol! Plus they are super sharp. They are called the Sally Hansen Clip n' Catch.

And last but not least I recently got OPI Nail Envy: Dry & Brittle formula. I don't really use base coats so my nails have staining and the tips have started to peel a little bit, so I started using OPI Nail Envy to prevent those things and help the overall health of my nails. I've only been using it 2 weeks now but the peeling is already much better.

What nail & hand care items do you use?

Cherry Culture Sale Haul!

A few weeks ago Cherry Culture had a sale. 20% off your order and free shipping over $40. This was the first time I ordered from Cherry Culture. I picked up an extra birthday gift for my mom and ordered myself 4 of the L.A. Girl Ombre Kits for $5.99 each. You get 5 mini polishes in each kit.

I'll have swatches of these soon. I have a bad slice on my thumb right now. I'm waiting for it to heal, so I can show all 5 colors on my nails when I take photos.

 Girl's Night Out

 Love Affair

 Spring Fling

Midnite

I was also able to get 3 China Glazes colors I've been wanting forever. They were $3.99 each. Strawberry Fields, I'm not Lion, Riveting.

And last but not least, I ordered 2 Jordana Sweet N' Smooth lip balms. I've seen these reviewed on Confessions of  Sarcastic Mom and I've always wanted to try them. I got Watermelon & Cherry. I've tried them both and they taste really good and make your lips super smooth.

This last one wasn't from Cherry Culture. My husband & I went to Wegman's Grocery last night for a splurge shopping trip and I got these two Badger Balm products down the organic aisle. I got Lime Rocket lip balm & I also decided to get the cuticle care to carry in my purse. It smells like oranges & rosemary. (Mandarin oil is one of the ingredients).

Belated Birthday Gifts!

Tuesday morning after the Government Shutdown set in and I was told not to report to work, I got a nice surprise in the mail. Belated Birthday gifts from my cousin in Georgia. Boy... did I ever need that to cheer me up!

At least I got to take my mind off the shutdown by doing some swatches of my new polish.

This is OPI Dining Al Frisco. I could have gotten away with just one coat the formula was that nice. But I did 2 coats & 1 of Seche Vite topcoat. I stamped with Messy Mansion plate MM20.

OPI Solitare. I've wanted this actually, it reminds me of snow. It's a pretty white texture polish with silver sparkles. I needed 3 coats. I stamped with Winstonia Store plate W120. I used OPI Dining Al Frisco for the snowflakes. I can't wait until it's cold enough to wear this design again.

OPI Gargantuan Green Grape, is a pretty light mint color. The formula is runny though, I needed 3 coats and 1 coat of Seche Vite topcoat. I used Messy Mansion plate MM06 for the design.

Nail Mail from Florida & The Netherlands!

It's been awhile since my last blog. I've gotten 7 new polishes since then. :-) But... I only actually paid for one!

My long time blogging & twitter friend Lynn sent me a package a few weeks ago. She sent me a DelSol color changing polish! (I also love the mouse card she sent!)

I've never owned a color changing polish. It's so cool! It changes from a super sparkly purple to a deep magenta in the sun. And as soon as you go back in the shade it goes back to purple. The color Lynn sent me is called 'After Party' I only have mobile photos, but the color change is significant! It's a super sparkly polish in person, I love it!

DelSol After Party in the shade.

DelSol After Party in the sun!

Then I got another lovely surprise. My Instagram friend Maaike (Mee-ka) in The Netherlands sent me some more goodies! (This was the 1st package she sent). She felt bad it cost me so much to send her package, and that I included more than I said I would. She is so nice! She sent me so much stuff! I have to send her back something in a few months, because now I feel bad! lol. :-)

She sent me more Essence polish, some nail art polish, facial cleanser, Coconut Lip Balm, which tastes amazing! And Lipton Blueberry Muffin green tea. :-)

Essence 'That's What I Mint' & 'Hello Marshmallow'

This was the manicure I did with the Essence Polish. Pastel & Daisies! I used Winstonia Store plate 110. And Konad Special Polish in White.

I shared my manicure on Winstonia Store's Facebook page and a few days later they shared it with all of their fans! That was so neat! (You may have to click on the photo below to enlarge it),

The only nail polish I've actually purchased myself was Essie DJ Play That Song. I've been wanting it forever. It's a pretty neon purple. Of course being Essie, the formula was thin and watery, so it took 3 coats, and even then I still had some bubbles. But it's a really gorgeous color regardless.

I added stars a few days later with Winstonia Store stamping plate W107 and some Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Silver.

If you haven't already. Check out my Complete Nail Polish Collection!

Zoya, Konad & a gift from The Netherlands!

After posting about some of the Zoya summer Pixie Dusts, I went and also ordered Destiny. A pretty orange coral.

I tried out a gradient with Destiny & Miranda.

My friend Maaike (Mee-ka) on Instagram & I decided to send each other each a little package. (We both love nail polish and pet rats!) She sent me a pretty turquoise Essence Nail Polish in Let's Get Lost & Lipton strawberry cupcake tea, all the way from The Netherlands! (The tea tastes like strawberry jam!) I'm sending her a Zoya polish & some treats for her ratties.

I found some of the new L.A. Girl 3d Effect polish on eBay! I still have to swatch them and I'm planning on doing a gradient with them!

I finally got my first Konad image plate. One with a Zebra & Cheetah pattern. I've only ever used stamping plates from Winstonia Store, so I was surprised Konad's look exact to Winstonia's plates. I also got Konad special stamping polish in Black & White. And a new little stamper set from Winstonia Store.

My first Konad mani! I just stamped over my Esscense polish to test it out, so there was some tip wear, etc. My new shorter stamper is a lot easier to handle than the longer one I was using before.

I also did purple zebra nails. With China Glaze Spontaneous!

I also found a nice large plastic container to store all.... 104 of my nail polishes in. I organized the polish by brand in little plastic baggies.

I will leave off with this funny Someecard, because I just ordered polish 105 from Sindie Pop Lacquer last night, a color I've been wanting for ages, and she finally restocked! Golden Raspberries!
