Sally Hansen Insta-Dri: Red-io Active

I've been looking for a good red stamping polish for awhile. Most of the red polishes I own, stamp pink instead of red. I belong to a stamping group on Facebook and was told Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Red-io Active is a good red polish to stamp with. I found it at CVS last Wednesday.

I wanted to test Red-io Active over a dark color, so I used it over Zoya Matte Velvet: Savita. I stamped with Winstonia Store 2nd Gen plate W203. No topcoat.

What red polishes do you stamp with?

Spellbound Nails: My Own Sweet Valentine

Last week I placed my first order with Spellbound Nails. After seeing My Own Sweet Valentine on Painted Nubbs, I just had to have it. It's a gorgeous almost coral pink with gold shimmer. It's part of the Victorian Romance Collection for Valentine's Day.

You can also add a scent to your bottle if you like. I added rose scent. Once the polish is completely dry it smells like roses. I could even smell it through my Seche Vite topcoat. The rose scent is not overpowering, just smells nice and floral. I really like it.

There's another neat thing about this polish. It glows in the dark! I've never owned a glow in the dark polish, this is my first. Formula wise the polish is thick, but not gloopy. I like that it's thicker because you won't flood your cuticles. I did 3 coats, the polish evens out nicely. You'll want a topcoat because it had a slightly gritty finish without.

How gorgeous is this polish?!

It glows in the dark!

These are my nails for the rest of the week, and since it's Valentine's Day tomorrow I used Konad plate M57 & Winstonia Store 1st Gen W102 2nd Gen plate W207, plus Konad white polish. I smudged my middle finger a bit though... :-\

We are having a Nor'easter storm here in Philadelphia... we've gotten 10 inches of snow already and it's supposed to snow more later. Luckily my job was closed today! I took this photo around 10am, when I was having my coffee.

Valentine's Day Nails: Design 3

It's another Friday and I've got another Valentine's Day manicure to share. I used Zoya Miranda this time and blinged out my ring finger with rhinestone's from Sally Hansen's nail art line. It's something a little different than I would normally do. If I had glitter I would have too since the rhinestones are a little larger. I stamped with Winstonia Store 2nd Gen plate W207 with Konad Special White polish.

Sally Hansen: Complete Salon Manicure

✯ PR Sample ✯

Today I have some Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure colors that were sent to me for review by Influenster. I was sent three different colors: Red My Lips, Pat on the Black and Jaded. I own a lot of different Sally Hansen nail polishes but this is the first time I've tried the Complete Salon Manicure line.

Red My Lips is a gorgeous bright red color. Formula was just right. Not too thin and not too thick. For real life you could get away with just two coats. Under the bright lights in my lightbox I needed 3 coats. You don't really need a topcoat because it's glossy on it's on, but because I stamped I used HK Girl Fast Dry topcoat and stamped with Winstonia Store 2nd Gen plate W207.

Pat on the Black is a deep dark purple color. I don't own any purples this color. Another great formula. You could definitely do two coats and be opaque, but for pictures I did 3 coats, plus HK Girl Fast Dry topcoat. I stamped with Winstonia Store 2nd Gen plate W203.

Jaded is pretty aqua green color that reminds me of China Glaze For Audrey. I did not like the formula on this one. It was way too thin. I needed 4 thin coats to get it opaque. I tried doing thicker coats but it would just bubble on me. You have to be careful because as I was applying coats, the coat underneath would drag and streak. HK Girl Fast Dry topcoat and Winstonia Store 2nd Gen plate W201.

In each Complete Salon Manicure bottle you get:

• Base Coat
• Strengthener
• Growth Treatment
• Color
• Top Coat
• Chip-Resistant
• Gel Shine

Have you tried any of the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes? What did you think of them?

Nubar: Rockin' The Garden

I picked this polish up a few months ago but I haven't really worn it until now. Nubar, Rockin' The Garden. It's a pretty slate blue with green/blue shimmer. The formula is a bit sheer so I needed 3 coats to make it opaque. I used two different stamping plates. Winstonia Store 2nd gen plate W212 for the dandelion fluff and MoYou London Kitty 11 for the bird. Topped off with one coat of Seche Vite.

Fairy Nails with Zoya Rue.

✯ PR Samples Mentioned ✯

When I saw Winstonia Store 2nd generation plate W208 it made me think of the "Zoya Fairies" who help create all the gorgeous Zoya nail polish colors. So of course I had to use a Zoya nail polish to help create this look.

I used two coats of Zoya Rue (press sample) from the Naturel's collection. Then one coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust (perfect for fairy nails right?) I stamped with Konad special white polish and used 1 coat of Seche Vite topcoat.

Dutch Windmill Nails.

✯ Press Samples Mentioned ✯

I couldn't resist playing with my new Winstonia Store 2nd generation stamp plates tonight. When I saw plate W218, the windmills immediately reminded me of my Mom in Law. She loves collecting anything with windmills. So I decided to do Dutch windmill china nails.

I started with a base of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Whirlwind White. Then I stamped with Cult Nails in Wack Slacks, then 1 coat of Seche Vite topcoat before I used the NYC Matte About You topcoat (press sample). I smudged the one flower stamp a little, but I still love how they turned out.

P.S. I got an OttLite! There's a been a lot of discussion about them in the Hobby Polish Bloggers group I am a member of on Facebook. The Mercurial Magpie posted a coupon code for this OttLite at Jo-Ann's so I had to order one. Can't beat that sale price either?!

(The free shipping code is: SHJP2012)

This is my setup for taking photos. I have my lightbox on my dining room table when I use it. I'm still using one of the clamp lamps as well as the OttLite. The OttLite definitely gives off a more natural light than the CFL bulbs I use. The nail photo above was taken using the OttLite tonight. Depending on what kind of lighting I need,  I sometimes use one or two clamp lights on the sides of my light tent.

My Equipment List:

Dance Legend Chameleon: Sully

I finally got Dance Legend Chameleon: Sully (096) in the latest Llarowe restock. It's been on my wishlist for awhile now. :-)

The other colors in the Chameleon collection look a little too similar to some of the ILNP ultra chromes I already own, but Sully has more aqua green and purple. It's gorgeous. The formula is a bit sheer, so I put two coats over a coat of black polish. Depending on the light shift you see aqua, blue, green, purple, pink. Aqua and purple are most prominent.

Guess what else arrived today... my Winstonia Store 2nd generation stamp plates! Whoo hoo! I can't wait to play with these. Winstonia was my first set of stamping plates, so I'm really happy they've come out with a 2nd generation. So many new designs to play with!

*All items were purchased by myself.

Philadelphia Eagle's Nails

✯ Press Samples Mentioned ✯

I'm not much of a sports person and not really a football person... but my family is. So, since I'm also a Philadelphian and the Eagles have a big game tonight I decided to do some football themed nails.

I started with two coats of NYC Color in Precious Peacock (press sample) over one coat of black polish. Then I stamped with Konad special white polish and Winstonia Store stamp plate W103. I applied one coat of Seche Vite topcoat before using the NYC Matte About You topcoat (press sample), so I wouldn't smear the design.

Edited: Oh well... just heard the Eagles lost. :-p
