Philly Loves Lacquer: The Porch, (Featuring Born Pretty Store)

✯  PR Sample Mentioned ✯

Philly Loves Lacquer recently listed some limited edition polishes in her online shop, that she made for various craft fairs in the area. I had to purchase The Porch! (In reference to The Porch at 30th Street). I have a huge weakness for aqua polishes. The Porch is a bright cream turquoise scattered holographic polish, with gold shimmer.

The formula was a bit sheer so I did 4 thin coats. You could probably stop at 3 coats though in real life. My lights are bright when I take photos. Four coats worked for me, so I didn't have any visible nail line showing. I used Seche Vite topcoat. I wish the sun had been out the day I swatched this, I wanted to get some holographic sun shots for you all! (Another time maybe.) The color is so divine though... *drools*

The Born Pretty Store recently sent me some products for review.  A stamping plate [QA83]water decals, and lace nail stickers

Check out the look I created with the lace nail stickers after the jump below!

My Favorite Indie Shops!

I thought I would share with you all, some of my favorite indie shops to buy nail polish from. These are shops I have own two or more nail polishes from, who I would purchase from again, and also have fabulous customer service.

Indie polishes are more unique, because of the fact they are made in such small batches. There's often limited editions. There's better quality control, and better quality over ingredients used in products, compared to a larger company. Plus you are supporting an independent small businesses when you purchase an indie polish!

1. ILNP Boutique

Really unique duo chromes, and vibrant holographics. Birefringence is my #1 favorite nail polish hands down from this shop. I always get plenty of compliments when I wear it. Also Barbra is a sweetheart and interacts often with her fans. Their customer service is awesome too, I once checked out with the wrong polish and they corrected it right away for me.

2. Painted Polish

Lexi's Drunk on Holo is another one of my all time favorite polishes. I've used it in countless manicures. Lot's of unique crelly and jelly polishes, and blinged out glitter polish. Lexi's packaging is always adorable too, little custom bags for the polish with her logo, she sometimes throws in nail decals or nail studs. She's also really interactive with her fans on Facebook and Instagram.

3. Indigo Bananas

Andrea comes up with the most unique finishes. Her duo chromes always have a soft finish to them. Her flakie jellies are out of this world (and I need to buy them!) Gorgeous holographics, and her cuticle balm is the bomb. I'm actually really addicted to her cuticle balms, and I like that she carries it in full size and mini's (as well as her polishes). She often tucks some interesting foreign Japanese, Chinese candies into your packages which is a fun touch!

4. Ellagee Polish

Whoo! Any lady that thinks of putting dolphin glitter, or penguin glitter into polish is freaking amazing! And Laura definitely is. She has really unique glitter jelly polishes, and holographics, and she recently stocked her shop with mini nail polish bottles keychains that you can fill with different custom charms! (Need!) My two favorite polishes from her are Life is de Bubbles and Dolphins of the Caribbean!

5. KB Shimmer

I recently got addicted to KB Shimmer last year. The fact that she also sells homemade soaps, scrubs, lotions, etc doesn't help. I am addicted to homemade soaps. One of my favorites is her relaxation soap, which has a nice musky scent like a man's really nice cologne, but light enough that it can be unisex. I also love the sugar scrub in that scent, and Lilac! The lilac sugar scrub is amazing! And don't get me started on the cuticle oil pens! Last time I made sure to buy two of the lemongrass cuticle pens. Her customer service is also fantastic, I was accidentally sent the wrong item once, and they responded the same day and mailed the correct item out. Her polishes are gorgeous too, love the crellies, and holo's!

6. Ice Polish

Erin has fantastic holographic polishes, with a great formula too. I just recently tried her polish, and I love it! Especially Jafar (berry holo), and Maleficent which is a gorgeous duo chrome.

7. Nire's Desire

Another Erin- and if you didn't notice her store's name is 'Erin' flipped backwards. ;-) Nire's Desire has some really gorgeous cream shimmers, and duo chromes, and holographics. I own Anam Cara and Jezebel. They are one coaters and have a really unique shimmer to them.

So those are some of my favorite indies! What are some of your favorites? I'd love to hear in the comments!

Delta Labs: Hair, Skin, & Nails, Vitamin Review.

✯ PR Sample ✯

Our Hair, Skin & Nails formula is designed to help your hair grow faster and stronger, reduce chipping and breaking in your nails, and create softer, younger, more luminescent looking skin. With 28 scientifically proven vitamins, minerals, herbs, antioxidants and bio nutrients, we guarantee you’ll see clear, visible results within 30 days. New gluten free & vegan formula with 5000 mcg biotin

Delta Labs sent me a sample of their Hair, Skin, & Nails vitamins. Unfortunately it says it takes 30 days before you see a difference, so I won't be able to give you a thorough review with only three doses. You take two pills daily. I can say they don't taste bad, though they are quite large to swallow. I would like try a full bottle sometime, so I can see the results better.

Macro Spam; featuring Emily de Molly

I cut down my nails this week (the tips were peeling a bit), so it's going to take them 1-2 weeks to get back to normal length. Also my skin and cuticles have been really dry from the last three collections I swatched... damn you pure acetone! I'm taking a little break while I give my swatching hand some TLC! :-)

So instead... I decided to give you guys a little macro spam! (My pinky says hi!)

I picked up Cosmic Forces last year when Llarowe happened to restock. (Emily de Molly is an Australian indie brand so it's hard to get in the USA). It was one of my biggest lemmings. #1 it's my favorite color, purple. #2... it's got those awesome holographic circles.

And... ahhh Oceanic Forces.... is.... mesmerizing! This has been one of my other lemmings for quite awhile, and I was lucky enough to find it in my mail box on Monday. I will have full swatches another time soon. :-)

I ordered a polish from Philly Loves Lacquer, she has a section where you can get certain throwback polishes made (as long as she still has the supplies). I've wanted Saturnalian quite awhile. It was a color in her winter collection last year. Saturnalian is a scattered holo turquoise. It's pretty opaque in just one coat too, though I used two coats below. I'll swatch this another time too! So just enjoy the macro for now! :)

Esther; besides the obvious; (you know, being a fellow Philadelphian). ;-) Is also really nice. She was recently at the 30th Street Station craft fair, that was actually outside my office. Only... the day I was supposed to go in June- it rained and got canceled. (Friday the 13th too, how about that?!) And then, when it was finally rescheduled; I was already furloughed from work, and waiting for my unemployment to kick in... so I didn't have money for train fare, or even spending money, boo. So, I didn't get down there to meet her or buy any polish in person. :-(

(To be brief; I've been a seasonal employee at my job for the past 12 years, so I usually have off 3-6 months out of the year)

Esther and I are friends on Facebook, and before the 1st craft fair had gotten canceled she said she had a #RAOK for me which was really sweet. So, I had an included surprise when my Philly Loves Lacquer order arrived on Monday! I've probably never been so surprised opening a package... especially when it's something you've really wanted for awhile! She sent me Oceanic Forces. That was incredibly sweet of her to do. :) I will have to pay it (#raok) forward sometime soon.

@ZoyaNailPolish: Naturel Deux Collection

✯ PR Sample ✯

Today I have the Zoya Naturel Deux Collection. This collection is meant as a palette cleanser as we transition from summer into fall. The Naturel Deux Collection is darker than the first collection. (Click here to see last years Naturel Collection)All of the colors in this collection go on smoothly and evenly in two coats. I used Seche Vite topcoat on all the swatches below.

@Azature Summer 2014 Collection

✯ PR Sample ✯

Azature sent me their lovely Summer 2014 Collection to review. Five beautiful bright pigment rich colors. The bottle shape is unique too. Each polish contains one real black diamond in the bottle. And, all the colors in this collection are opaque in one coat! I have great love for nail lacquer that is opaque in one coat! (You can either do one thick coat, or two thin coats. I did 2 coats for photos). I used Seche Vite topcoat on all the swatches below.

About Azature Nail Lacquer: Our luxurious nail color is free of Formaldehyde, Toulene, and Dibutyl Phthalate. No Animal Testing. Our polish is Vegan.

Lavender Diamond:

Rose Diamond:

Jade Diamond:

Lapis Diamond:

Coral Diamond:

Azature Nail Color retails for $25.00, and can be purchased on: Azature.com, or HSN.com. The price tag may throw some of you off, but it's definitely worth it. They apply so smoothly, and the brush is long and narrow for easy application. I also love that they are so bright and pigmented. I did my toes with the Rose color, and I don't think I've ever finished a pedicure so fast, since I only needed 1 coat on each toe! My favorite colors in this collection are Lavender, Rose, and Lapis.

Sparitual: Wander- Fall 2014 Preview

✯ PR Sample ✯

So... who is ready for fall? I know I am! (If I could hibernate during the summer I would, I'm so over summer humidity and heat!) :-p Today I have a sneak peek of colors from SpaRituals upcoming fall collection, Wander. These will be available for pre-order starting: August 1st.

All of these polishes have a satin matte finish, so you don't have to use a topcoat with them. But personally, I think the shimmer comes out better when you use a topcoat. (I used Seche Vite). It's your preference really. These polishes are quite pigmented, and go on smoothly. I only needed two coats for each color below.

Oasis: Really gorgeous deep dark navy blue. With topcoat the shimmer in this really comes out. I stamped with Messy Mansion stamp MM44 and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Silver Sweep.

Without Topcoat:

Starry Bright: Such a funny name for a rich brown with gold shimmer. It literally reminds me of coffee, or leaves in the fall. I used Messy Mansion stamp MM19, and Maybelline Bold Gold.

Without Topcoat:

Tapestry: Stunning warm red with shimmer that really pops once you add a topcoat. I also used Messy Mansion stamp plate MM44, and Maybelline Bold Gold.

Without Topcoat:

Sparitual: Quest Swatches, Topcoat Review.

Good Evening! I have a few colors from SpaRitual's Quest Collection to share with you all. These were provided by SpaRitual for an honest review.

Go on an unexpected adventure. Six dramatic and highly textured nail lacquers offer a complex though optimistic view of what we might find as we head out into the world. Multiple layers of glitter & color reflect the emotions we face as we set out on our own personal journey to find abundance, knowledge & acceptance.

Pioneer: A pink glitter cream. This one reminds me of L.A. Girl Birthday Cake. Though the pink base in Pioneer is a bit lighter. I used 3 coats. Formula was thin but build-able.

I also used the SpaRitual Mattify Topcoat. I like Pioneer matte, rather than shiny.

Beyond: is so pretty! It reminds me of an Indie nail polish. It's a black sheer cream with silver hex glitter, red, pink glitters, and pink circle glitter. That said, the formula was very thick! Too thick, so I had to add some nail polish thinner so I could work with it. Once I added the thinner, it was perfect. This is 2 coats, over black polish. You will have to fish around for the pink circle glitters.

Here is Beyond, with the Mattify topcoat:

Summit: reminds me of frost on a mountain. It has holographic sparkles, and white & blue circle glitters. I can see myself using this in the winter, and stamping snowflakes over it. I do wish the base was a cream instead of a shimmer. I think the glitter would have stood out better that way. I feel like with the shimmer base, it's got too much going on. You will have to fish around for the blue circle glitters. I used two coats over Blue Lagoon.

Here it is with the Mattify Topcoat:

Thoughts: You will want to use a thick-ish topcoat for these glitters, otherwise you'll end up with a very bumpy look. I used Seche Vite Dry Fast topcoat on all of the above photos. The reason I layered Beyond and Summit over colors, is because they are sheer, and too many coats looked clumpy. It's better with 1-2 coats layered over a similar color. Pioneer was fine by itself, no undies.

Removal: You will want to either do the foil method, or use a base like Glitter-A-Peel for easy removal.

Sparitual: Drift- Summer 2014 Collection

✯ PR Sample ✯

SpaRitual was kind enough to send me a few of their nail polish collections, topcoats, and even a hand serum. I will be breaking these up into about four different blog reviews, so not to overwhelm everyone. This is the first time I've tried SpaRitual, though I have heard of them.

Today I have the SpaRitual Drift: Summer 2014 Collection. It features six different colors: Blue Lagoon, Buoyant, Low Tide, Barefoot, Sea Glass, On the Dunes.

Inspired by a day at the beach, Drift features colors found in the frosted, semi-translucent pale greens and blues of sea glass. Multi-dimensional when layered, they catch the light just like in the shallow waters of the ocean.

My thoughts on the bottle design: The round bottle is easy to hold, and I especially like the rubber grip lids. The brush is a bit small, but easy to manage.

Blue Lagoon an ocean blue cream. I really adore this color! Three thin coats and it's opaque. I did a little design with striping tape and On The Dunes. (Ignore my wonky striping tape lines... wahhh...)

Buoyant is a peach cream. It applies much like the other creams in this collection, three thin coats and it's opaque. I also paired it again with On The Dunes and another striping tape design.

Barefoot is described as a sandy shimmer. It's a nude cream, with little bits of orange and silver glitter. It's really a unique color, I was surprised by how much I liked it. It was opaque in just two coats.

I was also sent the Mattify Matte Topcoat, here is two coats over Barefoot. (I'll be using the matte topcoat in a few upcoming posts too).

Low Tide is a very pretty turquoise cream. Three thin coats and it's completely opaque. I decided to do a gradient with On The Dunes.

On The Dunes: a sandy gold color, with tiny silver specks. As you can see, On The Dunes really pairs well with all of the colors in this collection. This is two coats.

Sea Glass is a sheer shimmery green/purple duo chrome, with glass fleck. It's very very sheer, so if you want to wear it on it's own, 3-4 coats will get it semi-opaque. (I did 4 coats below). You could probably also layer this over black or green polish for a stronger effect.

SpaRitual products are vegan. And their nail lacquer doesn't have a very strong scent, which is nice. You can read more about SpaRitual's philosophy here.
